From Roots to Ritual -- Comptoir BantuDesi at the 2025 Paris Tea Festival
This summer, the delicate aroma of heritage, healing, and empowerment will steep in the air of Paris, as Comptoir BantuDesi makes its debut at the 2025 Paris Tea Festival – a landmark moment for our brand, and a celebration of everything we stand for.
As tea lovers from around the globe gather in the City of Light to sip, savor, and discover the world’s finest brews, Comptoir BantuDesi will arrive not just with flavor, but with purpose. Our presence at the festival marks a bold step in our journey: from the hands of women farmers in Africa and India to the tables of conscious consumers seeking beauty, depth, and intention in every cup.
A Cup That Tells a Story
At Comptoir BantuDesi, every leaf is a story, every blend a bridge. Our teas are not just artisanal – they are ancestral. Cultivated in small, women-led cooperatives nestled in the highlands of South Africa, Central and West Africa and the heartrs of Assam and Tamil Nadu, our offerings represent the wisdom of generations and the future of ethical trade.
This year, we are here to remind the world of something timeless: the sacred ritual of tea. The quiet power of boiling water and waiting. Of taking a moment to return to yourself. Of honoring the land and the hands of the women that nurtured it.
Our Paris Showcase
Visitors to the Comptoir BantuDesi stand will be transported into a multi-sensory tea journey. We’ll feature curated tea degustations of our most beloved blends – earthy rooibos, our bulukutu, and a rare herbal tea cultivated by Bakongo women farmers.
More than just tastings, we’ll be offering conversations. Our Founder, Verlaine-Diane Soobroydoo will join a conversation on the unseen hands, and the role of women farmers in tea, and the future of regenerative economies. Her talk will center on how empowering women farmers through fair trade, land ownership, and ancestral knowledge is not just good business – it’s a sustainability and ecological imperative.
Rooted in Values, Brewing a Movement
Our participation is also an invitation: to reimagine fair trade that centers women farmers as ethical. To define sustainability not as a trend, but a return. To shift from mass production to meaningful connection. We envision a world where every cup of tea contributes to dignity, joy, and abundance – from soil to cup.
This is not just our first international tea festival. It is the beginning of a global dialogue around what tea can truly be and do for women empowerment, social justice and conscious business.
So if you find yourself in Paris this April, come sip with us. Come connect with the root. Come be part of a new kind of ritual – one that honors women, land, and legacy.
